Oakland Residents Continue Push Against Data Centers
Oakland residents, led by the Party for Socialism and Liberation and local community leaders, are actively pushing for a citywide ban on data centers due to environmental concerns, particularly around water and energy usage and noise pollution. This movement follows a proposal by Behring Companies and leases signed by Tesla and Prometheus for potential data center sites. Oakland City Councilmember Carroll Fife is reportedly working on a proposal for a moratorium on data centers.
