Holyoke banned new data centers. But it likes the eco-conscious one it already has
Holyoke, Massachusetts, has enacted a ban on new data centers due to environmental concerns, making an exception for the established, eco-conscious Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center. This facility, co-founded by several universities, is highlighted as a model for sustainable data center development. Meanwhile, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has signed an executive order requiring local municipal approval and adherence to clean energy guidelines for any new state-permitted data centers.
