Lowell residents sue over data center expansion in neighborhood

Lowell residents have filed a civil lawsuit in Middlesex Superior Court against a data center expansion by Markley Group LLC, alleging that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) unlawfully approved the permit. Residents claim the expansion, which includes additional generators and cooling towers, has worsened pollution in their neighborhood. This legal challenge follows a one-year moratorium on new data center construction enacted by the Lowell City Council.
