Planning and Zoning Commission approves data center

The San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission voted 6-2 to approve a 199-acre data center project proposed by Highlander Real Estate Partners. While some residents and union workers supported the project for the jobs and economic benefits, others expressed concerns over the data center's water usage, environmental impact, and use of AI technology.
