Massive AI data center proposed for Kern County’s Elk Hills

A massive 400,000-square-foot AI-focused data center, the Golden Valley Technology Hub, is proposed for 100 acres of former oilfield land near Elk Hills in Kern County, California. Developed by CRC, the project aims to support AI and cloud computing demands while generating economic development and jobs. CRC plans to use an existing, underutilized power plant for electricity and a closed-loop cooling system for water to address environmental concerns.
