Data center questions continue in Jersey County

Residents raised concerns at Jersey County and Jerseyville meetings about a proposed 18-megawatt bitcoin mining site associated with SN Operation, including potential effects on electricity costs, water, pollution, noise and property values. County officials said Jersey County has no zoning and that the permit application could expose the county to legal action if denied, while the local electric cooperative said the project remains at the request-for-information stage with no agreement or permit in place.
