Florida Communities Grapple with Hyperscale Data Center Development, Zoning, and Moratoriums

Communities across Florida are grappling with the rapid development of hyperscale data centers, leading to concerns about noise, water and electricity consumption, and environmental impacts. Palm Beach County commissioners rejected a major data center expansion, while other counties like Wakulla, DeSoto, and North Port have enacted or proposed moratoriums. State legislation, SB 484, was signed into law to enable local regulation and require impact studies.
