Yorkville data center approval comes after nearly 6-hour contentious City Council meeting

The Yorkville City Council approved a contentious 1,037-acre data center project called Project Cardinal after a nearly 6-hour meeting. The project will include 14 warehouses totaling 17 million square feet. The council also approved a $51 million upfront offer from the developers to fund local infrastructure and community organizations. A separate $40 million contribution from the developers of the 540-acre Project Steel data center was also referenced.
