South Carolina Public Service Commission approves nearly $3 billion data center
South Carolina regulators have unanimously approved plans for a nearly $3 billion data center in Spartanburg County, despite concerns raised by an environmental group. The South Carolina Public Service Commission sided with developers North-Mark Strategies and Valara Holdings, ruling that the project is not subject to the same regulatory process as power plants. An environmental group had filed a lawsuit arguing the project was improperly classified.
