Calvert board gives nod for moratorium draft ordinance

Calvert County Commissioners directed staff to draft an ordinance for a six-month moratorium on data center projects, driven by public concerns and issues with a proposed Amazon Web Services site plan near Calvert Cliffs. The site plan is currently under review, having not met initial stormwater management requirements. Residents voiced strong opposition, urging immediate action and a longer pause on development.
