Citizens against zoning changes as AI data center rumors swirl

The Hopkins County Joint Planning Commission held a public meeting regarding a request to rezone a 128-acre agricultural property to general industrial use, amidst rumors that the land is intended for an AI data center. Despite the absence of a formal data center proposal, citizens voiced strong environmental and community concerns, leading the commission to deny the rezoning request in a 6-1 vote.
