Kansas residents launch ballot fight over planned 300-acre tech campus, data center, and gas plant

Residents in Ottawa, Kansas, have launched a ballot petition to oppose a proposed 300-acre development by Lightfield Energy LLC, which is planned to include data centers and a natural gas power plant. The proposed ordinance aims to prohibit data centers consuming more than 25 megawatts of power. If sufficient signatures are collected, the city commission must adopt the ordinance or it will go to voters on the November ballot.
