Nevada county totally bans data centers in over-appropriated water basin

Nye County, Nevada, commissioners unanimously voted to ban data centers in Hydrographic Basin 162, becoming the first municipality in the state to outright prohibit such facilities due to water scarcity concerns. This decision follows a temporary county-wide moratorium and effectively blocks Gigawatt Development Partners LLC's proposed Manse Technology Campus in the Pahrump Valley. While commissioners acknowledge the need for tax revenue, water conservation was prioritized.
