Florida House waters down, passes bill restricting data centers
The Florida House passed a bill that aims to put restrictions on the growth of massive data centers that power rapidly developing AI technology, and their effects on regional electric and water resources. The bill was amended to remove a provision restricting local governments from entering nondisclosure agreements, and to require an independent study on the economic impact of data centers. The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration. A separate effort by Florida's governor to establish an "Artificial Intelligence Bill of Rights" has not been heard in the House.
