Austin City Council gives historic designation to 140-year-old east Austin home

The Austin City Council unanimously voted to designate a 140-year-old East Austin home as a City of Austin Landmark, preventing its demolition by developer Eureka Holdings. This decision was made despite the owner's objections, marking the sixth time the council has made such a designation against an owner's wishes. Additionally, a Texas Senate committee is scheduled to hear testimony regarding data centers' water use and transparency.
