5 Things to know about Meta’s giant data center
Meta is constructing a $50 billion AI data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana, developed through a highly secretive process involving state and local officials and Entergy to secure energy and avoid public opposition. The project, which included significant tax breaks and financial engineering, has spurred economic activity but also led to resident displacement. Governor Jeff Landry has since enacted an executive order, "Louisiana Lightning Speed," to replicate this fast-tracked development model for future large-scale projects in the state.
