Eminent domain vote coming Tuesday for proposed data center property

The Metro Council is preparing to vote on Tuesday regarding the potential use of eminent domain to acquire property previously purchased by DC Blox. This land, located adjacent to the Nashville Zoo, was slated for a proposed data center.
Despite considerable efforts from both the Nashville Zoo and the mayor's office to prevent the DC Blox project, no resolution has been reached. Should the council approve the measure, DC Blox would be compelled to sell the property to Metro Nashville, with the mayor proposing its use for government offices.
The previous vote saw three council members express concerns about the potential for an expensive lawsuit if eminent domain is pursued. DC Blox has not yet specified whether it would initiate legal action should Metro Nashville take control of the property.
