The Texas Water 2026 conference, the 32nd annual event of its kind, recently concluded in San Antonio, drawing around 9,000 water industry professionals. Daniel Nix, executive director of the American Waterworks Association, noted it was their largest conference ever, bringing together experts from across the state to discuss the latest technologies, procedures, and regulations in water and wastewater.
Drought remains a persistent concern for Texans, with Nix highlighting its particular severity in South and Central Texas. Attendees also focused on solutions, including water reuse and advanced treatment methods, according to Julie Nargang, executive director of the Water Environment Association of Texas. Another prominent topic was the rapid influx of data centers into Texas and their substantial water demands, which are significantly impacting the state's water supply issues. Nargang emphasized the necessity of accessible, available, and clean water for Texas's continued growth.
