Paxton Investigates Tom Green County Data Centers Over Water-Use Reports

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has initiated an investigation targeting "hundreds" of data center developments across the state for their failure to comply with a state-mandated water-use survey. This directive comes after these facilities neglected to submit required water usage information to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB).
Paxton emphasized his commitment to ensuring transparency and adherence to state law concerning water resource management, stating that his office will guarantee that all data center developments provide accurate and up-to-date water usage data. The investigation spans numerous counties, including Tom Green, Harris, Montgomery, Travis, Dallas, Tarrant, Smith, Bexar, Potter, Randall, Lubbock, Midland, Ector, Wichita, Victoria, Brazos, Nueces, and El Paso. The Attorney General stressed the importance of protecting Texas's resources and holding companies accountable for their legal obligations.
