An informal meeting was recently held in Shreveport, Louisiana, to inform local businesses about the substantial Amazon data center project slated for Northwest Louisiana. This massive undertaking is projected to inject over $12 billion in investments and create thousands of jobs within the region, drawing significant interest from local contractors and suppliers. Hundreds of representatives from local businesses attended the event at the Shreveport Convention Center, eager to learn how they could participate in the construction and supply chain for the new data center. Among them was Bryce Cozy, regional sales manager for Midsouth Metals, a Shreveport-based steel processor. Cozy expressed his company's enthusiasm for the project, noting their experience in similar data center builds in other states and their anticipation of new opportunities for local vendors and the community's workforce. Midsouth Metals, which currently supplies raw materials for various industries including trailer manufacturers and SpaceX, aims to secure a contract to provide steel for the data center. The company hopes to bid for the steel fabrication work, as a general contractor for this aspect has not yet been selected. The meeting was viewed as a valuable networking opportunity, fostering partnerships not only for the current data center project involving Amazon (also referred to as AWS) and Stack Infrastructure, but also for future regional development.
