Lehigh Township's Board of Supervisors recently announced progress on a proposed data center ordinance. Engineer Mike Muffley stated that the planning for the ordinance is almost complete and ready to be forwarded to the Northampton Planning Commission and then to the board for review. The township emphasizes the necessity of this ordinance to effectively regulate any data centers that might seek to establish operations within its jurisdiction. This initiative represents a proactive step by the township to manage future development and infrastructure, reflecting a broader trend of local governments addressing the impact of data center growth.
In other township business, a discussion was held regarding alcohol consumption in township parks, with Supervisor Gerald Pritchard arguing against allowing it and Chairman Mike Jones questioning the need for changes due to a lack of prior issues. The board ultimately tabled this ordinance for language revisions. Additionally, the board approved resolutions for facility use fees, increased short-term rental fees, amendments to the noise ordinance, and an increase in drainage and stormwater fees under Resolution 2026-15.
