Augusta, Georgia, commissioners have enacted a 49-day temporary moratorium on new data center applications. This decision, made at a recent meeting, allows city planners to develop updated zoning regulations specifically for data centers. These new rules will consider factors such as location, noise, and size, replacing a zoning plan that has not been updated since 1963. The public will have an opportunity to provide input on the proposed regulations once they are presented to the Planning Commission.

In related news, data center developer QTS is planning a $2 billion data center project in Richmond County, near the Haynes Station neighborhood. QTS will host a community meeting on June 24th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Belair to inform the public about their development plans.
