Phoenix City councilmember faces ethics complaint tied to data center
A Phoenix ethics complaint asks the city to investigate whether Councilmember Kevin Robinson had a potential conflict of interest after accepting more than $18,000 in campaign contributions from people tied to Menlo Digital. The company is developing a controversial data center near hundreds of homes, prompting sustained opposition from nearby residents.
An ethics complaint has been filed against Phoenix City Councilmember Kevin Robinson over more than $18,000 in campaign contributions from individuals connected to Menlo Digital, the company developing a large data center in Robinson's District 6. The project is being built across from hundreds of homes and has faced months of opposition from neighbors.
The complaint asks the Phoenix Ethics Commission to examine a potential conflict of interest but does not accuse Robinson of wrongdoing. During a recent meeting with the Ahwatukee Community Alliance, Robinson acknowledged that the contributions "look bad" and said he would not have accepted them had he known who would provide the money.
