Geronimo Power CEO Blake Nixon opposed Harmony Township’s proposed 24-month moratorium on data center development near Mapleton, North Dakota, calling the measure a signal that the area is closed to business. He made the comments at a community forum at Grand Farm in Wheatland.
Geronimo is seeking support for its proposed project by offering more than $140 million in incentives, including payments to eligible neighboring landowners and a guarantee related to nearby home values. Nixon also urged attendees to sign a petition asking township supervisors to reject the moratorium and review the company’s application. The board is scheduled to consider the proposed two-year freeze next Tuesday.
