The Ringgold County Board of Supervisors has agreed to conduct a series of public hearings regarding a proposed 12-month moratorium on new data center development within the county's unincorporated areas. The first hearing is scheduled for Monday, June 29th, at 6 PM in the Ringgold County Courthouse Assembly Room.

The proposed ordinance aims to temporarily halt the acceptance and processing of applications for new data center construction. County officials stated that this moratorium would provide necessary time to thoroughly study the potential impacts of data center development on critical public services, including utilities, infrastructure, and water usage, as well as broader public health, safety, and welfare concerns.

The county also intends to use this period to assess whether additional regulations or policies are required to manage future data center projects effectively. Two subsequent public hearings are slated for July 6th and July 13th, though the Board retains the option to waive these final two sessions.
