Google has officially announced plans to construct a new data center on Pegasus Parkway in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia. The tech giant pledges significant long-term investments in local energy affordability and environmental stewardship as part of the project. According to Google, the company will fully cover all costs associated with power and necessary infrastructure, ensuring these expenses are not passed on to local residents. The LaGrange city manager and the president of the LaGrange Development Authority have both expressed support for the development, noting it will help fill a void in the utility system left by a previous large electric customer's departure. Notably, LaGrange had previously enacted a moratorium on data centers; however, this moratorium expired in March and did not impact the Google project as construction was already underway at the time of its expiration.
