She said the study should assess infrastructure capacity and include public input, while addressing potential environmental, water, energy, noise and light-pollution impacts.
Onondaga County Legislature candidate Elaine Denton said she is closely monitoring County Executive Ryan McMahon’s plan to study the feasibility and potential impacts of a data center in Onondaga County. Denton said the study should determine what the county’s existing infrastructure can support and incorporate input from residents and local municipalities evaluating large projects.
Denton identified environmental impacts, water and energy consumption, noise and light pollution, and the size of data center structures as key concerns. Her comments came in a Central Current election questionnaire covering county issues, including the planned arrival of Micron and the need to manage its environmental and infrastructure impacts.
