Morris Data Center Opposition Group Plan To Hold Several Community Meetings
A local group called the Morris Illinois Data Center Opposition has announced it will hold its own in-person public meetings to discuss the proposed Morris Data Center project. This comes after the City of Morris and developer Tract held two virtual informational meetings that the opposition found inadequate. The group plans to feature different speakers at each community meeting.
The Morris Illinois Data Center Opposition Facebook group announced plans to host several in-person community informational meetings regarding the proposed Morris Data Center project. Group representative Jodi Pollack stated that they intend to feature different speakers at each event, emphasizing a desire for more direct engagement than previous virtual sessions.
This initiative follows two virtual informational meetings held in late August by the City of Morris and Tract, the company that acquired the land at Route 6 and Gun Club Road and is seeking an end-user for the data center property. During those sessions, Tract presented project details and addressed questions from attendees. Pollack expressed dissatisfaction with the virtual format of these earlier meetings, prompting the opposition group to organize its own public forums.
