Venture Global plans to expand on-site electricity generation at its LNG facilities in Cameron and Plaquemines parishes using equipment from GE Vernova and Baker Hughes. The additional capacity could support future AI data centers without relying on Louisiana’s public power grid or water utilities, although no specific data center customer has been identified.

Venture Global is planning a major expansion of its privately generated power capacity at LNG facilities in Cameron and Plaquemines parishes. Under a reported $17.2 billion agreement with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes, the company could procure turbines and transformers capable of producing up to 10 gigawatts of electricity.

Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel said the phased expansion could make large-scale power available for future computing operations, including potential AI data centers. The company has not identified a specific hyperscale customer or confirmed that a data center deal is imminent, but it controls land near its LNG facilities for possible power plants and data centers. Any expansion would require permits from federal, state and parish regulators, though the company says it would not rely on public electricity or water systems.
