Amazon to announce St. Louis area data center Monday
Amazon is set to officially announce its plan for a data center project in Montgomery County, Missouri, just west of the St. Louis area. The project involves an initial investment of at least two billion dollars and is expected to create 150 jobs, with construction potentially starting in 2027. This follows Google's recently announced $15-billion data center also planned for Montgomery County.
Amazon is scheduled to unveil detailed plans for a new data center in Montgomery County, Missouri, on Monday. The announcement is expected to include Governor Mike Kehoe and other key stakeholders, highlighting a significant investment in the region.
The project, located north of I-70 near Ellis and Hudson roads, involves an initial investment of at least two billion dollars by Amazon, with further capital expected in subsequent years. The company owns approximately 900 acres for the development and anticipates creating 150 jobs upon the data center's opening, with construction projected to commence in 2027.
This development comes shortly after Google announced its own $15-billion data center project in the same Montgomery County area, near Interstate 70 and Highway 19. Google's facility is expected to employ roughly 200 people and has committed to supporting the training of over 2,300 construction laborers in the next two years.
