A town hall in Tucson addressed newly implemented regulations for large-scale data centers, which officially took effect recently. These regulations, passed by the Tucson City Council, impose requirements such as setback distances from residential areas and building height limits. The City of Tucson has not received new data center proposals since the rejection of 'Project Blue'.

A town hall meeting was held in Tucson to discuss newly implemented regulations concerning large-scale data centers, just days after their official enactment. The event, organized by Veterans Power America at the El Rio Community Center, included residents, climate organizers, and Vice Mayor Lane Santa Cruz.

Vice Mayor Santa Cruz, along with other council members, overwhelmingly passed these data center regulations last month. The new requirements mandate that potential large data center developments must be at least a half-mile away from residential or educational land, with building heights limited to 50 feet. Proposed developments also require a neighborhood meeting and approval from the Tucson City Council and the mayor.

Santa Cruz noted that these regulations are confined to the city's boundaries, acknowledging the emergence of data center proposals outside city limits. A spokesperson for the City of Tucson confirmed that no new data center proposals have been received since the City Council rejected a previous project known as 'Project Blue'.
