Pitt County planning staff is scheduled to assess the county’s existing data center ordinance for the Pitt County Board of Commissioners as officials consider whether a moratorium is needed. Residents have urged the board to pause data center development in unincorporated parts of the county, and staff is seeking commissioners’ input on regulatory deficiencies and potential impacts.

If commissioners move forward, county officials would hold a public hearing, potentially at the board’s Nov. 16 meeting. The meeting agenda also includes a separate zoning request involving outdoor farm and construction equipment auctions, a state grant presentation and an update on the county’s unified development ordinance.
