Entergy Mississippi, an electric power distribution company, has announced that its customers in Mississippi will save over $2 billion on power bills due to data center projects in its service area. This includes data centers being built by Amazon Web Services in Madison and Warren Counties, as well as AVAIO Digital in Rankin County. The company says having large customers like Amazon helps offset rising costs for homes, businesses, and healthcare facilities, and the revenue is also going towards grid upgrades that customers don't have to subsidize.

Entergy, the electric power distribution company in Mississippi, has announced that its customers in the state will save over $2 billion on power bills due to data center projects in its service area. This is part of a broader $5 billion in savings for Entergy customers in Louisiana and Arkansas. The savings come from large data center projects, including Amazon Web Services' plans for multi-billion-dollar facilities in Madison and Warren Counties, and AVAIO Digital's data center in Rankin County.
While some customers voiced concerns about potential bill hikes, Entergy Mississippi's President and CEO Haley Fisackerly stated that the data center projects will have the opposite effect, helping offset the rising costs of powering homes, small businesses, and healthcare facilities. The additional revenue from these large customers will also fund major grid upgrades that will improve reliability and reduce power outages, benefiting all ratepayers. Entergy has structured the agreements with data center owners to protect existing customers from risks.
