Black Hills Corp. said it will support a proposed Google data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, through new generation capacity and a privately managed microgrid. The South Dakota-based utility plans to invest $1.8 billion between 2027 and 2029 and build 564 megawatts of generation for the project, which could require access to a 2.7-gigawatt resource mix and reach peak demand in 2030.

Power deliveries are expected to begin in late 2027, with Black Hills supplying up to 590 megawatts from the grid, primarily through a new gas plant at its Cheyenne Prairie Generating Station. Google will cover the full cost of supplying the data center, while Constellation Energy separately signed a 3.59-gigawatt power contract with Google and plans more than $4.3 billion in related fleet investments.
