The Ada Village Council is actively discussing how to prepare for potential data center development, recognizing that current utility infrastructure cannot support such facilities and existing zoning laws are inadequate. A council member explicitly stated strong opposition to allowing data centers in Ada, prompting further investigation into legislation and utility capacity.

During a recent Ada Village Council meeting, legal counselor Jane Napier advised the council on the potential influx of data centers into the area, noting that nearby Logan, Shelby, Champaign, Union, and Delaware counties are already experiencing this trend. Napier explained that data centers are often attracted to municipalities due to existing water systems and highlighted that current zoning resolutions typically do not classify data centers as manufacturing businesses. Village Administrator Amanda Sears confirmed that Ada's current facilities and utilities lack the capacity required to support a data center. Councilman Xander Wells expressed strong disapproval, stating, "In no circumstance should we allow a data center in Ada." The council decided to add the topic to the next utilities committee meeting, and Napier will research legislation from surrounding areas to inform Ada's preparation.
