Data center moratorium proposed in Boiling Spring Lakes

The Boiling Spring Lakes Board of Commissioners is set to consider a proposed 12-month moratorium on new data centers and cryptocurrency mining operations within the city. The Board will hold a legislative hearing on Tuesday, June 2, at City Hall to collect public comments and community input regarding the ordinance, which is pursuant to N.C.G.S. 160D-107. City officials have invited all interested parties to attend the 6:30 p.m. meeting to share their views. Commissioners plan to review the feedback and presented information, potentially modifying the ordinance before a possible vote on its adoption next month.
