Gov: York Township, York Township Board of Directors
The proposed land purchase for a data center project in York Township, Michigan, has been terminated. Sansone Group, the developer, officially withdrew its agreement to acquire over 400 acres of land from Toyota located along Platt Road, an effort that had been ongoing since last year.
Township Supervisor Dave Ludwig confirmed the deal's collapse, expressing relief from the York Township Board of Directors. The board had been under pressure regarding a zoning change from a research park designation to heavy industry, which was necessary for the data center development to proceed.
In response to the experience, Supervisor Ludwig stated that York Township is now prioritizing the update of its zoning ordinances specifically to address future data center proposals. He anticipates that it will take several months for a comprehensive proposal to be developed and ready for consideration.
