Jacksonville residents voice concerns about data centers
Jacksonville residents voiced environmental and community concerns about data center development at a meeting organized by City Council member Mone Holder. Speakers urged the City Council to enact an immediate moratorium on further data center construction until officials and the public have more information about potential impacts.
Jacksonville City Council member Mone Holder hosted a City Hall meeting on data center development attended by council members, a representative of the Jacksonville Electric Authority and community residents. Public commenters said the city, planning officials and JEA lacked sufficient information to make informed decisions about future projects.
Nearly all speakers called for an immediate moratorium on additional data center construction while the potential environmental and community impacts are studied. No moratorium action by the City Council was reported in the video.
