Town of Hayden seeking applicants for Data Center Advisory Committee
The Town of Hayden is seeking residents for an advisory committee that will help review regulations governing data center development. The town imposed a six-month moratorium on data center applications after residents raised concerns about water use, environmental and public-health impacts, and the transparency of the regulatory process.
The Town of Hayden is recruiting local residents for a Data Center Advisory Committee to help evaluate development regulations after the Town Council adopted data center provisions in the municipal code. The rules classify data centers as an allowed use in heavy-industrial areas while imposing limits on size, power demand and other development requirements.
After more than a dozen residents opposed the new provisions at a Sept. 3 council meeting, the council approved a six-month moratorium on data center applications while it reviews the town’s zoning ordinances. Town Manager Mathew Mendisco said the committee will include people with differing views and a range of community interests.
