Alaska Data Center Utility Executives Donated $58,000 to Sen. Dan Sullivan
Executives linked to Twenty First Century Utilities and related firms donated $58,000 to Sen. Dan Sullivan’s reelection committees after he promoted opening Alaska military bases to data center developers. The company is pursuing North Slope Power, a multibillion-dollar project in Prudhoe Bay that would combine a large natural gas plant, a hyperscale data center and microgrids.
Executives connected to Twenty First Century Utilities and affiliated firms donated at least $58,000 to Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan’s campaign committees in spring 2026, shortly after Sullivan urged the U.S. Air Force to make Alaska military bases available to data center developers. The Alaska Current reported that Twenty First Century Utilities had identified Elmendorf Air Force Base as a potential data center site and that the Air Force later held an industry day and site visit, although no leases had been awarded.
The company is also developing North Slope Power with the North Slope Borough. Planning documents describe a project in Prudhoe Bay featuring a natural gas plant scalable to more than 10 gigawatts, a colocated hyperscale data center and community microgrids. The borough committed to an exclusive partnership through 2027 and $5 million for the project, while approving a separate contract increase for Saige Consulting. Sullivan’s campaign and the companies did not respond to requests for comment, while Democratic candidate Mary Peltola criticized the donations and argued that affected Alaska communities should control data center decisions.
