DartPoints says it will not build large data center on former Lexmark site
DartPoints announced it will not build a large new data center on the former Lexmark site in Lexington, Kentucky. The company's statement comes one day before the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Planning Commission is set to vote on zoning changes that could ban large data centers on such properties. DartPoints now plans to only update the existing facility.
Dallas-based developer DartPoints, which acquired the former Lexmark data center site on West New Circle Road for $29 million in May, has announced it no longer plans to construct a large new data center in Lexington, Kentucky. Instead, the company stated it intends to update the existing facility on the property.
The announcement was made just one day ahead of a crucial vote by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Planning Commission. The commission is scheduled to consider new zoning changes that, if approved, could prohibit the construction of large data centers on sites similar to the former Lexmark property.
