Eugene building that sparked data center concerns now for sale
The former SK Hynix semiconductor facility in Eugene, Oregon, now owned by Stratacache, is for sale. This building had previously generated concerns about a potential data center development, with the City of Eugene signaling its opposition to such uses. Stratacache had intended to utilize the property for micro-LED production.
The semiconductor manufacturing facility in Eugene, Oregon, which had previously raised local concerns over its potential conversion into a data center, is now listed for sale. The 1.19 million square foot building, situated on 197 acres, is owned by Dayton, Ohio-based LED display manufacturer Stratacache.
Stratacache acquired the property in 2020, and CEO Chris Riegel stated in an October 2025 interview that the company was renovating the facility for micro-LED production. The plant was originally constructed by South Korean company S.K. Hynix in 1998 for semiconductor manufacturing. While Stratacache had plans for advanced chip production, the sales listing mentions that the City of Eugene has indicated it will resist data center uses for the property. Stratacache did not respond to requests for comment from KLCC.
