Three Michigan senators propose bills to regulate large-scale data centers

As the debate on data centers rages on, three state senators are proposing bills to lay down some ground rules on how they operate in Michigan. Data center supporters on both sides of the aisle, including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, laud the projects as major investments in Michigan's economy and as job creators. But the facilities have received their fair share of bipartisan backlash, as well. Democratic State Sen. Rosemary Bayer said people are rightfully concerned about data centers, and she's joining fellow Democratic Senators Sue Shink and Erika Geiss seeking to place "guardrails" on the projects.
