EQT Real Estate held an open house for its proposed Mt. Comfort Technology Campus, a 130-acre, multi-building data center project in Buck Creek Township. The project remains in the early proposal stage and requires county approval for rezoning and financial agreements before it can proceed.
EQT Real Estate hosted an open house for Hancock County residents to discuss its proposed Mt. Comfort Technology Campus in Buck Creek Township. The planned campus would include six data center buildings totaling about 3.1 million square feet, with an end user expected to be announced in the coming months. EQT has proposed upfront and long-term payments to the county, including $22.2 million initially and roughly $22 million annually at full buildout.
EQT data center executive Will Simpson said the company would fund dedicated electrical infrastructure, including $125 million in transmission improvements, and use closed-loop cooling systems designed to reduce water consumption. Hancock County Commissioners have not voted on EQT's letter of intent, and the land is not currently zoned for a data center. The project would also require approval from the Hancock County Council for its proposed incentives and financial commitments, while residents continue to raise questions about the campus's proximity to residential areas and its infrastructure impacts.
