Hanover Planning Commission to Vote on Data Center Project Near Ashland
The Hanover Planning Commission is scheduled to vote on a zoning request for WestDulles Properties' proposed Iron Horse data center project near Ashland. This 180-acre campus is envisioned to include up to nine data center buildings and follows a previous rejection by county supervisors.
The Hanover Planning Commission is set to consider a zoning request for the 'Iron Horse' data center project, proposed by Reston-based WestDulles Properties. The project involves rezoning 78 acres at 10171 E. Patrick Henry Road near Ashland, Virginia, for a data center campus spanning 180 acres across the Ashland-Hanover line.
The development plan includes up to nine two-story data center buildings, totaling 2.2 million square feet. This is the latest iteration of a proposal, with the Ashland portion already approved, but an earlier, similar application was rejected by county supervisors the previous year. Following the commission's vote to recommend approval, the Hanover Board of Supervisors will make a final decision.
