Montana’s Department of Environmental Quality extended the public-comment period through Nov. 6 for a proposed well serving the Quantica Big Sky Campus data center near Broadview. The Montana Department of Environmental Quality extended public comment through Nov. 6 on a proposed well for the Quantica Big Sky Campus data center near Broadview. The well is expected to supply about 150,000 gallons of water per day during construction and 200,000 gallons per day afterward.

The well would draw from the Madison aquifer, located roughly 1,000 feet below the Eagle Sandstone aquifer that supplies most nearby water users. DEQ said the water could support construction, drinking water and potentially cooling for high-density servers, while additional reviews and permits may be required for water quality, air quality, water rights and zoning.
