SNOW Janesville, a local grassroots group focused on development and quality of life in south side Janesville, is organizing a community education event titled "Data Centers: Community Conversations." Scheduled for April 2, 2026, at Hedberg Public Library, the event invites Janesville citizens to discuss the potential impacts and concerns related to data center development. The program will feature a panel presentation covering three specific areas: data center risks and myths, including taxes and TIDs, presented by retired technology executive Prescott Balch; water-related issues, led by former U.S. Geological Survey water scientist Amanda Bell; and community health impacts, addressed by Dr. Brittany Keyes, Clean Air Policy Manager with Healthy Climate Wisconsin and a former City Council Vice President from Beloit. Dr. Keyes has been actively advocating against hyperscale data centers, identifying them as a growing environmental health threat across Wisconsin and the nation.
