Keller residents meet to discuss proposed data center

Despite Westlake officials supporting the project for its revenue and industrial zoning, Keller's mayor is prepared to consider legal action due to the data center's proximity to residential areas.
Keller residents are expressing significant concerns over a proposed 1.1 million square foot data center situated on the border between Keller and Westlake. During an ongoing public meeting at Keller City Hall, numerous residents voiced their opposition, particularly upset that the facility would be built only about 500 yards from their homes.
Adding complexity to the situation, the data center is technically located within Westlake, where city officials are enthusiastic about the project. They highlight that the development is in an area zoned for industrial uses and is expected to boost the city's revenue by 14%, viewing it as a sound investment for Westlake's future. They also note the developer has agreed to install sound barriers and plant trees to mitigate visual impact.
However, Keller's Mayor is prepared to ask the city to consider legal action on behalf of the residents, stating that Keller will not idly watch the massive data center proceed so close to its residents' backyards. Tensions are high, with Keller Police investigating threats made against Westlake officials by an individual from Keller who opposes the plan. Westlake has scheduled its own town meeting to discuss the project further.
