Louisa County's Board of Supervisors approved a 15% reduction in the personal property tax rate for FY2027, partly due to early revenue from data center projects. Going forward, all new data center projects in the county will require a Conditional Use Permit to ensure responsible growth.

Gov: Louisa County Board of Supervisors, Louisa County
The Louisa County Board of Supervisors has approved a 15 percent reduction in the individual personal property tax rate for fiscal year 2027, decreasing it from $2.43 to $2.07 per $100 of assessed value. This decision, announced Monday night, follows a resident survey where tax reductions were a top priority, and is attributed in part to diversifying the county's revenue base. Chairman Duane Adams emphasized the board's commitment to responsible stewardship of local tax dollars.
A significant factor in this reduction is the early revenue generated by data center projects currently under construction in the county, none of which are yet operational. While these projects are contributing to the county's financial strength, officials have also stated that future data center developments will require Conditional Use Permits to ensure responsible growth and minimize impact on surrounding communities. The county plans to solicit public input on how additional anticipated revenues from these projects should be utilized.
