Tucson officials have taken significant action against the developers of the Project Blue Data Center, Beal Infrastructure, by cutting off the facility's access to city water. Last summer, the Tucson City Council rejected a deal with the company, leading to the termination of city water supply for Project Blue. More recently, city manager Tim Tamure sent a letter to Beal Infrastructure stating that the data center had been using Tucson's drinking water without permission to control dust at the construction site. A contractor reportedly obtained a temporary construction water meter and moved it outside city limits to the Project Blue site. The city discovered this unauthorized use and subsequently shut off the meter. City spokesperson Andy Squire affirmed that such meters are expected to be used within city limits. Beal Infrastructure, through a statement, maintained that its contractor followed standard procedures. This ongoing dispute highlights the controversial nature of the data center project within the community.
